A Taste of Gibbston Valley Joins Arrowtown Long Lunch
Tickets are on sale for the 3rd Annual Arrowtown Long Lunch event on 6 December from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If alfresco dining, delicious food and an afternoon of great entertainment are your idea of fun, then this is one event you won’t want to miss.
The Long Lunch takes place at tables set up along Buckingham Street where guests can enjoy their food, the beautiful weather and Arrowtown’s historic and picturesque surroundings. A Taste of Gibbston Valley is one of the local eateries participating in the event.
The Long Lunch menu for A Taste of Gibbston Valley was designed by Gibbston Valley Executive Chef Mark Sage and features local and seasonal ingredients and the restaurant’s newest menu item, Italian pizzelles, handmade on site.
Pizzelles (pronounced with a ts sound like “pizza”) are traditional Italian waffle biscuits made by pouring a batter into a pizzelle iron, which looks like a small version of a waffle iron. Along with heating the batter, the iron also imprints a snowflake-like pattern. The end result is a crisp, sweet, exquisite-looking and lightly-flavoured Italian biscuit.
The Long Lunch menu for A Taste of Gibbston Valley includes:
- Starter: Grilled asparagus salad with toasted Southland hazelnuts and orange
- Main: Marinated lamb cutlets with Lindis honey, chilli and ginger with smoked aubergine, capsicum and faro
- Dessert: Chocolate pizzelles with grilled apricots and mascarpone
Tickets for this menu are $52 per person and can be purchased here.
Along with the food and entertainment, this event is also in support of the charity organization Cure Kids. Cure Kids is a non-profit organisation that works to find cures and better treatments for life-threatening illnesses and conditions that affect many kiwi kids. Cure Kids will be hosting a raffle and auction during the day to raise money for their organisation.
