Gibbston River Trail

A scenic ride from the historic bungy bridge to some of the region's top wineries and other scenic attractions.

One of the most popular rides in Queenstown, the Gibbston River Trail winds along the majestic Kawarau River to some of best wineries in the region, including Central Otago's founding winery, Gibbston Valley.

The trail was recently upgraded and now has a maximum grade of 1 in 10 to appeal to a larger range of riders including beginner and families with young kids.This trail was commended by the New Zealand Cycle Trail (NZCT).

This trial is part of the Queenstown Trail and officially starts at the Kawarau Bridge, home of the AJ Hackett's, the world's first bungy operation.

From there, the route takes riders on a picturesque journey through Central Otago. With direct access to Gibbston Valley Winery, riders and walkers can easily add award-winning wine and some of the region's best food to their cycling excursion.

Gibbston Valley Winery is also home to the Gibbston Valley Bike Centre. The bike center offers bike hire and various packages that include return transport to Queenstown and access to performance, fat tire and electric bikes.
